In the morning she MUST...
Wake up and have breakfast while watching a show
Pee
Get dressed, shirt first.....ALWAYS
Comb hair (herself)
Then she feels ok to leave the house...
At night she MUST...
-Get on her jammies...she now has an opinion on which ones she wears
-Wind down, watch a show, have a little snack
-Have her vitamin, she likes to open it, pour out a little pile, choose which one she wants oooo so carefully and give one to Jack.
-Brush her teeth
-Pee
-She wants me to "flat" her covers, basically lay them flat in a certain order. Fuzzy blanket first (fuzzy side must be up), pink blanket second, sheet, comforter and then a blanket I made for Paul for the couch.
-I read her a small story, the same one night after night.
-Then I lift her up to shut the light off, the fan must stay on.
-She climbs in bed, get carefully under the covers to not mess up the flat layering
-Hugs, kisses, hugs, more kisses
-Mermaid music box on....
and I can leave.....
it doesnt end there.....if it were up to her, she would pee again, have her music on again, pee yet again, have some water, yells because her hair is messed up (this was a new one last night), she needs a bandaid, a barrette, an ice pack (yea she has asked), a teething ring for her teeth (yes she has had ALL her teeth for a year or so), another hug, another kiss, daddy, asking if Jackson is asleep, basically anything she can think of to try and get me back in there. Its hard to ignore since our house is so tiny and thankfully Jackson sleeps through it all.
Jacksons routine:
ME: Its bed time
Him: I dont want it
ME: get your blankie
Him: I dont want it (gets blanket anyway)
ME: kiss daddy and sissy
Him: I dont want it (kisses them both anyway)
ME: Come on (heading down hall)
Him: I dont want it (following me)
In his room we give him his blanket, a kiss and a song and he is diving into the crib most nights to sleep.
Some nights he cries, Paul goes in there.
Dad: Jackson is time to sleep
Jack: I dont want it
Dad: you need to be a big boy and go to sleep
Jack: I dont want it
Dad: Are you tired?
Jack: YESH
Dad: Are you going to be a big boy and go to sleep?
Jack: YESH
Dad: ok good night.....
and some nights we get the sweet "I wub you" (wub=love for those of you without tiny people around)
He is so easy most nights..I wonder if he will turn into his sister with her rituals.
Am I catering to her to much? I like to think she is not in control of many things in her life and if having her covers flat or her cereal in the morning is what she likes no harm done....

I laughed out loud at Jackson. That is adorable. You know where I stand on this...right along side you in ritual-land...
Ahh the joy of 3 year olds. I don't think we're ruining them too terribly...at least I hope not.
We are right there with you. Jams routine sounds almost just like Riley. I'm with Michelle. I don't think were ruining them.
